It's Illegal to Stand on the Railroad Tracks in Big Stink

Tuesday, December 4, 2012

That's Jed's old general store. Jed had to close it up awhile back. Without rain, you can't have crops. Without crops, the farmers have no money. The folks out out here wrote a letter to the president asking for some stimulus money but we haven't heard back yet.

Monday, November 12, 2012

Than goodness we don't have a rush hour out here in Big Stink. If we did, those trains would really mess things up.

Friday, August 31, 2012

That's the old furniture store. It went out of business some time ago. Folks buy their furniture at Walmart now. They buy their shoes and groceries there too.

Sunday, August 12, 2012

That's Ed's Place. Ed doesn't sell a whole lot of wine. Most folks prefer beer with their hamburgers.

Thursday, August 2, 2012

If you're looking for a bargain in Big Stink, you can always find one down on Main Street.

Saturday, July 21, 2012

There's no hustle in Big Stink. There's no bustle either.

Monday, July 9, 2012

Those are the tracks. The set on the left leads here. The set on the right leads there.

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

That's out at the old granary, right next to the old warehouse by the old tracks. There's not much going on there these days. That's just fine with the tarantulas and lizards.

Thursday, May 31, 2012

When we had water, old Thurgood kept his pigs in there. Pigs need water. When you don't have water, you can't have pigs.

Tuesday, May 22, 2012

If the doctor ever gives you a week to live, you should come on out to Big Stink. Out here, a week can seem like forever.

Friday, May 11, 2012

That's Mable. She's spending a little time out back of Doc Parker's place. She's not sure whether she's going home or going to the meat plant. I'm not sure either. I'm hoping she's going home. I like Mable.
You'll find those two down past the railroad tracks by the old granary. They're thick as thieves. You'll never see one without the other.

Wednesday, May 2, 2012

That's the old furniture store downtown. It's closed up too. If you need some peace and quiet in Big Stink, downtown is a good place to find it.

Sunday, April 22, 2012

That's the hardware store. If Buckley and Welch don't have what your looking for, you don't need it. I reckon Sam Walton is going to try and run that place out of business some day. That would be a shame. Have you ever tried to find a good hammer at Walmart?

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

That's the old warehouse. Things have slowed down since they moved the tracks. The lizards and snakes are staying busy though. They always have something to do.

Sunday, April 8, 2012

Those are the lights down at the railroad tracks. Someone told me that for trains, green means stop and red means go. Now that just doesn't make sense.

Sunday, April 1, 2012

That's where the grain comes out of the silo. I haven't figured out how they get the grain in yet, but I'm working on it

Thursday, March 22, 2012

That's the Landmark Inn down by the train station.  It's closed up too. Folks still pass through Big Stink. They just don't spend the night like they used to.

Saturday, March 17, 2012

Old Barnabus just wanted to give y'all a big howdy. If you want to hear a story, Barnabus is the fella to see here in Big Stink. All it will cost you is a beer, two if you want to make sure it's a good one.

Sunday, March 11, 2012

I've walked that road a hundred times. I'll walk it hundreds more. I'll walk that road until I'm dead. I have no girl worth staying put for.

Saturday, March 10, 2012

Out in the distance, across that field, is the new landfill they're digging. Once they're done I reckon they'll just haul that rusty old drum over there. They'll probably haul that old shed over there too.

Thursday, March 8, 2012

That's Lucy. She's got herself a soda pop, a fishing pole, a box of worms, and some sunshine. I reckon that's about all a body needs to be happy. Now kids, just because Lucy smokes does not mean you should. Lucy is not a role model.

Thursday, February 23, 2012

That's the old hotel down on Main Street. We don't get many tourists here in Big Stink these days. Since they built the new highway, folks don't even pass through any more. They just go right around.

Saturday, February 11, 2012

That building used to have a friend but they knocked it down. We have a lot of lonesome buildings out here in Big Stink.

Wednesday, February 8, 2012

That old building is down the road in El Nacho. I'm not sure what the the letters are for. Someone told me that is something secret.

Wednesday, February 1, 2012

That's Buford. He's staying out back of Doc Parker's for awhile on account of his eye. Someone is going to eat Buford one of these days. It won't be me.
That's Evie's place. She lives up the road in Bartlett. Let me tell you, Evie is one sweet potato.

Monday, January 30, 2012

When times are tough people tend to neglect things. Times are tough in Big Stink.

Tuesday, January 24, 2012

The Egyptians have nothing on us. Well, I guess that's not quite true. They had a pharaoh. All we have is a mayor.

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

That's where they load the trains. It might look a little shabby but it works just fine.

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

I don't think you can get to the granary without crossing a set of railroad tracks. I don't think you can get across town without crossing a set of railroad tracks.

Every once in awhile we get some rain out here in Big Stink. The trains don't mind. Mud doesn't bother them.

Tuesday, January 3, 2012

Time was when you needed something you would go downtown to get it. Now folks go to Walmart. That new Walmart has just about put the whole town of out of business. On the bright side, after Ned closed up his furniture store he was able to get a job at Walmart greeting people as they come in the door. I am sure Sam Walton would be pleased if he knew how much Walmart has done for Big Stink.
